A creative father and son Amerasinghe course was charted by Rohith Amerasinghe. A few starboards were thrown into the port mix for variety. A lot of exchanging of places as sailors navigated a port mark instead of starboard & vice versa in the excitement! Wind strength and direction varied on several occasions & in numerous combinations throughout the race to add to the melee. It was a close finish in the end for the majority of the fleet. We were lucky to have a past Commodore from 1975 - Roland Kilgos - take to the helm in the fleet race & he with Joseph Kenny as crew eventually won this boat and personal handicap race in the club boat with Rohan Amerasinghe announcing the result.
Potential new members from Wadduwa as well as visitors from Hong Kong bore witness to the battles on the lake. After the race there was the inevitable verbal replay of various details of action on the water. Barbecues were lit, cheeses shared & homemade cakes filled any space remaining for a satisfying end to another idyllic Sunday at the club.
