The Craven & Dowbiggin Trophies for BOD only plus the fleet races for all sailors took place on Sunday. On an overcast day with an average windspeed of 15kmph gusting to 25-30kmph and winds coming from WSW a series of 4 races were held for the seven boats that took to the water with two lasers in the fleet.
Rob set the course with a shortened course to be taken into account should the winds abate. The first two races went the full distance with the last two over the shortened course.
Roshanara with Janaka as crew and Duncan with Gail as crew fought for the Craven Cup and Fleet Race over the line. After one and a half hours of intense competition they were tied on points with the same number of first, second & third places! To break the tie the last race was the decider & Roshanara & Janaka were the trophy winners. Mini & Richard were third in the Craven Cup.
In the Over the line fleet race first and second places were the same as the Craven Cup with Mathisha doing a superb job in his 4.7 laser to take the final position on the podium in third place.
With personal handicap for the Dowbiggin Trophy there was a shuffle on the podium with Mini & Richard in first place, Roshanara & Janaka in second Duncan & Gail in 3rd place. The personal & boat handicap fleet race saw Mini & Richard in first place, Mathisha in second & Ernst in third. Visit www.cmyc.lk for the full results.
Well done to all the sailors & thank you to our OOD Rob for setting such a great course.
